Nose Plastic Surgery

The nose is a central part of the face structure, therefore it is most noticeable if there are any deformations. This makes people feel uncomfortable. Deformations may be hereditary (genetically inherited) or acquired (caused by trauma, infection or tumor mass). It is often followed by functional respiratory or olfactory disorders.

There are open and closed approaches in surgery for correction of nose deformations. Closed rhinoplasty involves an incision on the internal surface of the nostril and is used to correct small deformations (irregularities of the nose dorsum, nasal septum deviations, correction of nasal turbinates). In case of a need to conduct larger modifications (plastic operation on nasal tip, correction of nasal septum defects, reconstruction of the nasal dorsum), the open approach is used, where an incision is made on the bottom part of the nose.

After the surgery, bruising occurs and fades in 1-2 weeks; the stitches are removed (in case of an open approach) in 5-7 days. In some cases the patient needs to wear a protective nose splint for 3-4 weeks.
