Carbohydrate\nmetabolism&nbsp;disorder occurs because of an insufficient amount of insulin.\nWhen the damaged&nbsp;pancreas&nbsp;doesn\u2019t produce insulin, i.e. the absolute\ndeficit of insulin is called type I diabetes. When it produces an insufficient\namount of insulin, a relative deficit of insulin is called type II diabetes.\nGenetic predisposition plays a critical role in the occurrence of both types of\ndiabetes. But most commonly binge eating, and obesity determine the occurrence\nof type II diabetes. The main symptoms of diabetes mellitus include weight\nloss, poorly healing wounds, frequent urination, loss of capacity for work,\nfeeling of tiredness, loss of sexual vigour, menstrual disorders, excessive\nthirsting, itching around genitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Thyroid Goitre<\/strong>&nbsp;is the most common endocrine disorder. It is\ncharacterised by an enlargement of the thyroid during normal production of\nhormones. There are two types of goitres. The diffuse goitre, which is an\nenlargement of the whole thyroid gland and increased production of thyroid\nhormones. With time, the goitre may develop into a node, thus increasing the\nrisk of developing cancer. The vernacular goitre, which is an enlargement of\nthe thyroid due to the deficit of iodine and other microelements. It can also\nbe related to an increase in the organism&#8217;s demand in thyroid hormones in\ncertain periods of life such as adolescence or pregnancy. The main symptom of\nthyroid goitre is an enlarged thyroid that causes hoarseness, breathing\ndifficulties, weight loss, tiredness, weakness, skin pallor, xerodermia,\nswollen palms and eyelids, and changes in voice. The most common treatment for\ngoitres is related to hormone therapy, but sometimes it needs to be surgically\nmanaged (a part of the thyroid is resected).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Addison disease<\/strong> is a chronic disorder, which develops due to the\ndestruction or dysfunction of hormonal functions. Adrenal bodies produce\ncertain types of hormones: cortisol, aldosterone, androgens, and oestrogens,\nwhich take part in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, proteins, water and\nelectrolytes.&nbsp; If a hormonal imbalance\noccurs, the whole metabolic activity is disrupted. Possible causes of the\ndisease include autoimmune adrenal glands&#8217; disorder, antibody response to adrenal\ncortex, genetic factors, certain medicines, radiological therapy, infection,\ntrauma, surgery, and blood circulation disorders. The symptoms of chronic\nAddison disease include changes in skin and mucous membrane, weakness,\ntiredness, poor appetite, reduced sexual vigour, weight loss, digestion\ndysfunction, and vertigo. Symptoms of the acute form of Addison disease include\nnausea, sickness, fainting, fever, and pelvic pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Acromegaly (also known as pituitary gigantism)<\/strong><strong> <\/strong>is an endocrine disorder caused by a non-malignant\nadenoma in the&nbsp;anterior&nbsp;pituitary&nbsp;gland (hypophysis) that is\nresponsible for a variety of hormones determining growth, development, puberty,\nreproductive function and breastfeeding.&nbsp;\nThe symptoms of acromegaly are divided into external and internal. The\nexternal symptoms include the enlargement of palms, feet, low jaw, tongue, and\nthick facial skin covered with wrinkles. Internal symptoms include tiredness,\nsleepiness, headaches, an enlarged thyroid gland, joint pain, reduction in vision,\nand reduced glucose tolerance.<strong>Pituitary&nbsp;dwarfism\n(microplasia)<\/strong><strong> <\/strong>is an endocrine disorder\ncharacterized by decreased or interrupted body growth, and irregular formation\nof the organism due to the secretion of a decreased amount of growth hormone in\nthe hypophysis. Growth hormones stimulate the development of bones, cartilage\nand soft tissues. The main symptoms of this disease include a delay in growth\nand development, muscle weakness, low height, overweight, skeleton\nabnormalities, and small internal organs. Pituitary&nbsp;dwarfism develops\nbecause of the lack of the growth hormone (due to labour traumas, nervous\nsystem infections, incest), dysplasia of the pituitary gland (congenital or\ndeveloped after a surgery), and experienced brain trauma or tumours.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Diabetes mellitus is a condition that causes a carbohydrate metabolism&nbsp;disorder leading to the elevation of glucose level in the blood.
