If you cannot arrive for a consultation or feel timid to do it, you are welcome to book a remote video consultation. During a remote video consultation, our medics consult you on various health issues. They can issue or extend a temporary disability certificate, prescribe medications and medical products, and prescribe necessary tests. Learn more about remote consultations>

At Northway, we pay particular attention to the safety of our patients and staff. Please familiarize yourself with the new patient attendance procedure:

• We provide medical services only to patients with pre-booked appointments made by calling +370 5 264 4466.
• Patients can come to the centre only 10 minutes before the appointment.
• Patients must come alone.
• Patients must keep a distance of 2 metres from other visitors.
• Patients must wear protective face masks and gloves, and disinfect their hands.
• We will measure each patient’s temperature. 
• Only one patient can wait for his/her appointment by the consulting room. We will make sure there are no queues.
• We will thoroughly disinfect the consulting room after every patient.

We would like to inform you that our personnel are currently secure amidst this difficult situation. We also have sufficient reserves of hand-washing liquids, face masks and gloves for your protection and the protection of our staff.

We make every possible effort to make you feel secure when you arrive with any urgent health issues at our centre. We make longer intervals between patient bookings, and you don’t need to wait longer than 10 minutes for your visit.

We would like to remind you that you may come to the centre only if you have booked your visit in advance or you have a GP’s referral for prescribed tests.

We perform a thermal screening of patients, and if a patient has a fever, he/she is admitted to the centre through the side entrance on the left.

If you know that you have a fever, please do not enter the centre through the main door. Use the side entrance.

When you come to the door, please call 8 5 2644466. Once the desk staff responds, please inform that you are waiting at the door. Our medical care specialist will come and take you to the room.

We will keep doing everything that is necessary to keep you protected and healthy under the current circumstances.

Patients that come to our centre during quarantine include pregnant women, seniors, children that arrive for vaccination. Therefore, we are asking you to follow the established procedures and internal rules. This is the only way to protect you and the people around you.

We would like to inform you that currently, we have the MMR vaccine – a combined vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella. If you want to receive this vaccine, please contact our appointment desk at +370 (5) 264 4466.

If you want to know whether you are immune to the measles virus, we encourage you to take the IgG antibody test. This test measures the levels of antibodies in the blood. It also helps to evaluate your immune system status and to decide on the necessity of additional vaccination.

Medical specialists at the Centre for Communicable Diseases and AIDS would like to remind you that a person who carries the measles virus can transmit it 4-5 days prior to the onset of the rash to 4 days after the rash erupts. People vaccinated against measles cannot transmit it to other people.

It is almost impossible for people living in urban areas to avoid contact with influenza during the outbreak. If you go to work, shopping centres or your children’s day-care centre/school, you will definitely catch a flu virus because it is being spread into the air by each infected person when he/she sneezes, coughs or talks.

Vaccination is the only accepted way to protect against the flu, according to today’s’ science-based medicine. World health organisations consider vaccination as the main and most effective preventive measure against influenza, capable of protecting people from flu and its complications: pneumonia, bronchitis, otitis, sinusitis, acute conditions of chronic diseases, etc.  According to statistics, 4% of people in the unvaccinated population get sick with flu during the outbreak. In the vaccinated population, 1% of people get sick with flu, but they usually have “benign”, non-life-threatening forms of the disease.

Vaccination is especially important for people and their relatives at high risk of influenza complications. The high-risk group for flu complications include elderly individuals (aged more than 65 years), children, people with chronic conditions like AIDS, diabetes mellitus, chronic lung disorders (specifically asthma), people with overweight with BMI > 40 and people with immunodeficiencies due to certain diseases or drugs consumption.

Annual vaccination is recommended prior to the flu season – from September up to November.  You can get vaccination even later because the immune response will develop before the incubation period ends.

See your GP for a physical examination before vaccination. Your GP will evaluate your health status and provide recommendation for vaccines.

Sexual dysfunction in males is one of the research fields in andrology.  Therefore, knowledge and experience in sexual medicine is a must in an andrologist’s work. The European Committee of Sexual Medicine has approved training programmes and qualification examinations in sexual medicine for medical doctors. Candidates willing to check their competency in sexual medicine hold an examination. After successful passing, the MJCSM issues a certificate of qualification in sexual medicine, which is recognised across Europe.

The professor says that ‘both a preparation course and questions in the exam helped to systemise sexual medicine knowledge and to learn about the latest developments. In clinical practice, competence in sexual medicine enables the medical specialist to apply the newest evidence-based diagnostics and treatment methods. In the cases in which sexual dysfunction causes infertility, or patients seek medical advice due to sexual disorders, it will be possible to choose the right and effective treatment’.

This year, Birutė Žilaitienė also received an academic qualification as a professor.
