Assisted reproduction with reimbursement

We provide infertility treatment services reimbursed by the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (CHIF). All Northway Fertility Centres in Lithuania (in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipėda) offer the full range of reiumbursed assisted reproduction services.

Which patients are eligible for CHIF reimbursement

Assisted reproduction services covered by the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund are available to:

• Married couples;
• Those who have compulsory health insurance;
• When a woman is over 42;
• Partners who have been diagnosed with infertility;
• Patients who have referrals from their GP or obstetrician/gynecologist for a consultation on assisted reproduction;
• When pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is required.

You will need the following documents to obtain reimbursement for assisted reproduction services.

Couples who wish to take advantage of reimbursed assisted reproductive services and who are applying for these services with the possibility of reimbursement from the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund should bring the following with them to their consultation with a fertility specialist:

• An identity document;
• Marriage certificate;
• A doctor's referral for an assisted reproduction consultation with the diagnosis N97.8 “Female infertility of other origin”.

Assisted reproduction services reimbursed from the THIF (PSDF) budget

Spouses are reimbursed by the THIF for up to 2 assisted reproduction cycles, which include:

• One consultation by an obstetrician/gynecologist on assisted reproduction for a woman;
• One consultation by an obstetrician/gynecologist on assisted reproduction for a man;
• Consultations by an obstetrician/gynecologist (no more than 3 per treatment cycle) with application of controlled ovarian stimulation;
• Assisted reproduction by IVF (in-vitro fertilisation) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI);
• Collection of male reproductive cells from testicles and their processing (TESA);
• ICSI using female reproductive cells stored in a reproductive cell bank;
• Preparation of embryos stored in the Reproductive Cell Bank and their transfer into a woman's uterus;
• The necessary laboratory and instrumental tests for both partners during a consultation about assisted reproduction.

If the patient requests, we can offer additional services or services at a higher cost.

IMPORTANT: If a couple consults a fertility specialist regarding the diagnosis or treatment of infertility for causes other than those previously mentioned, and if they do not meet the criteria specified in Order No. V-1452 of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Lithuania dated December 20, 2016, they will have to pay for the consultation and other services according to the Northway Fertility Centre's rates.
