At Northway Fertility Centres in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, and Riga, we value the well-being of each patient. That is why we offer egg, sperm, and embryo donation programmes with donors chosen specifically for each couple. Additionally, our Fertility Centre in Riga extends its services to unmarried couples and single women.
Assisted reproduction with donor reproductive cells is one of the most successful methods for treating infertility, as it involves the use of healthy and young donor cells. Donors are selected based on strict criteria, and they undergo numerous tests to screen for diseases or conditions. The results are carefully evaluated by medical specialists. Additionally, a thorough check is conducted to ensure that there are no known genetic disorders in the donor's family history.
The assisted reproduction procedure (IVF) using donor reproductive cells is no different from standard IVF procedures; that is, the collected reproductive cells are fertilized in the laboratory. When using a donor embryo, the created embryo can be transferred directly to the uterus. Cryopreservation technology (vitrification) can also be employed, allowing the created embryos to be used later.
Egg donation is an anonymous and altruistic program in which one woman selflessly donates some of her eggs to another woman facing fertility challenges and dreaming of becoming a mother. Assisted reproduction (in vitro) using donor eggs is one of the most successful methods for treating infertility, as it utilizes healthy and young donor reproductive cells. During the cycle of assisted reproduction using donor eggs, an embryo is transferred into the patient's uterus, which is obtained by fertilizing the donor egg with either her partner's or a donor's sperm.
Although a woman's egg reserve decreases with age, her uterus and ability to carry and deliver a child remain viable for some time. Therefore, egg donation significantly increases the chances of giving birth to a healthy baby, even for older women.
The use of donor eggs can be applied in the case of one or more of the following infertility causes:
Donors are selected based on the strict selection criteria. They undergo detailed tests to assess diseases or conditions that could affect the baby's health. Specialist doctors carefully evaluate the results. It is also assessed whether the donor's relatives have a history of any known genetic illnesses.
One of the most outstanding features of our donation programme is our attempt to combine the physical characteristics of the donor and the recipient (phenotype) as closely as possible.
Sperm donation (sperm banking) is an anonymous and altruistic program in which a donor generously contributes his sperm to a couple suffering from male infertility and wishing to have children. Assisted reproduction (in vitro fertilization) with donor sperm is one of the most effective infertility treatments since it involves reproductive cells from healthy and young donors. In a donor sperm assisted reproduction cycle, an embryo is transferred to the patient's uterus following the fertilization of either her egg or a donor egg using donor sperm.
Donors are selected based on strict screening criteria. They undergo numerous tests for diseases and conditions:
The embryo donation programme is accessible for any of the infertility causes previously mentioned. Embryo donation involves using donor reproductive cells (both donor eggs and sperm) in the assisted reproduction process. This treatment generally yields excellent results, as it utilizes cells from young, healthy individuals.
The Latvian Law on the Assisted Reproduction allows embryo donation for infertile couples, unmarried couples, and single women undergoing assisted reproduction. For more information about our embryo donation program at our Fertility Center in Riga, click here>>.
Egg and sperm donations are completely anonymous. Recipients cannot meet their donor, see their photo, or obtain any personal information about them. However, when selecting a donor, couples are provided with general information such as age, hair color, eye color, weight, height, blood type, Rh factor, education, and interests.
Each donor signs a consent form stating that, according to Lithuanian legislation, they voluntarily give and donate their eggs or sperm to an infertile couple, and that they will never know the identity of that couple.
According to statistics, infertility affects up to 15% of couples in Lithuania. For many of these couples, using donor eggs or donor sperm often becomes the only viable solution.
We invite you to become a donor and help these infertile couples achieve their dream of having a baby. After all, your friends or loved ones may be among these people.
